Terms and Conditions

To comply with the terms of its constitution and legal obligations, KCDC stipulates terms and conditions for all applications to the Hydro Fund. 

Please make sure you meet the application criteria and/or seek an informal discussion before applying.

General conditions

  1. Applications will only be considered from organisations and individuals from within the area of the Kingussie and Vicinity Community Council as defined by The Highland Council (“the Community”).
  2. Grant-assisted projects must clearly demonstrate a tangible benefit to the Community and/or neighbouring community council areas.
  3. Applications must be submitted and approved before the commencement of a project. Retrospective applications will not be considered.
  4. Applications should be accompanied by copies of:
    • the submitting organisation’s most recent independently audited accounts;
    • its constitution; and 
    • three cost quotations.

However, if it is not possible to provide any of these three requirements, an explanation of the reason must accompany the application.

  1. Applications that demonstrate match funding and/or funding from other sources are welcomed.
  2. If deemed necessary, KCDC may request supplementary information or seek further clarification. This may entail requesting the applicant to schedule a meeting with KCDC trustees to address any inquiries pertaining to the application.
  3. Applications for funding over £750 will be referred to the Hydro Fund’s external Large Grants Committee. The Large Grants Committee comprises the KCDC Chair and Treasurer together with three independent members of the community.
  4. The Hydro Fund is not intended to be used to support ongoing revenue commitment.
  5. Repeat applications from individuals or organisations will generally not be considered within 18 months of a prior application unless part of an agreed phased plan.
  6. KCDC may choose to make an award offer which is less than the application request.
  7. All awards are subject to funds being available.

Three levels of funding are available

Category A: For amounts up to £750

  1. Applications will be reviewed by KCDC’s Board of Directors.
  2. Applicants will receive prompt notification regarding the status of their applications, whether accepted or declined.

Category B: For amounts up to £3,500

  1. Applications will initially be reviewed by KCDC’s Board of Directors.
  2. If deemed suitable, they will be referred to the Hydro Fund’s Large Grants Committee for approval. 
  3. Applicants will be notified as soon as possible whether the application has been accepted or declined.

Category C: For amounts over £3,500

  1. This category of funding is for exceptional projects which exceed normal funding limits but are deemed to have significant value and benefit for the Community.
  2. Applications will initially be considered by KCDC’s Board of Directors. 
  3. If deemed suitable, and considered by KCDC’s Board of Directors to be of significant value and benefit for the Community, the application will be referred to the Hydro Fund’s Large Grants Committee for approval.
  4. Applicants will be notified as soon as possible whether the application has been accepted or declined.
