The Spey Catchment Initiative are investigating how erosion scars on the Allt Mor, a tributary of the Spey, contribute to sediment build-up and flooding in Kingussie, and are exploring potential solutions to help reduce flood risk and enhance biodiversity along the river. To honour the legacy of the late Donnie Grant MBE who was the driving force behind Kingussie Community Development Company and the community hydro, the trustees of KCDC have launched the “Donnie Grant Memorial Award”. This will be an annual one-off small grant to a senior student/students from Kingussie High School who are looking to follow
On February 15th we celebrated the community hydro scheme that has operated on the River Gynack for the past 10 years. Almost 80 people joined us over the day for a tour of the hydro plant and a wee bowl of soup at Kingussie Golf Club. We had a great day meeting all of you.
